When I hit level 77, will Cold Weather Flying just allow me to use my flying mount in Northrend or does it completely replace the g cost of Artisan Flying Skill? Don't rate me down. Just a simple misunderstanding is all. Comment by Do you need level 77 to buy this or is it just the level of the spell?
Comment by Note that even with this ability you still cannot fly in or over Dalaran. If you try, you'll hear the Fel Reaver screech sound and slow fall off your mount.
Try to summon your flying mount in Dalaran and you'll get the message "You can't use that here. Why Blizzard chose to disallow flying in Dalaran is beyond me, since the city looks awesome from the air!
Comment by SockPuppet Amazing. Some folks are acting as if this is a Terrible Outrage. I rather regret the removal of the quest chain but not if it involved group quests; that would be annoying , but seriously. It's 1K gold. The 5K for epic flying was onerous. This is not. It's chump change. Comment by I'm not sure what the big deal is Between questing and the AH it shouldnt take more then 3 or 4 days to come up with the money for this. Im a 72 and I generally make between a day between the two.
Comment by huldu It is an outrage! Spent 6k gold on a flying mount that is useless in northrend until you hit level Comment by g just cuz my stupid wind rider cant suck up to a little cold?
The reason people think this is because in Beta, there was a quest Hope This Was helpful! Comment by Maxtro It is a little stupid that you need to buy this skill in order to fly in Northrend. And that's not even including the mount. With an epic faction mount that brings the total up to 7, That is a lot of money for a new character to get by Of course the epic flier is optional but normal flying can't compare to epic.
Comment by Why did someone give Redreaper15 a negative score? Was it because you read the first line and went "lol it mus meen dat he b hatin on dis hear cold wether flyin"?
He made a good point, even though it has been repeated. AND, he thinks it was a good idea to put it at level 77 because everyone is at the same ground level litterally for the first seven levels.
He also thought it was a good idea because it made people look at the beautiful zones Blizzard made in this game. Comment by Gvaz g is nuts, though I suppose by level 77 you'll have more than enough to pay for it anyways. Regardless, they should lower the price of epic flying, its insane.
Comment by Ive been asking in game and i get mixed answers, do you need Outland flying skills to aquire CWF? Comment by Unfortunately, Blizzard makes you wait 7 levels to reuse your flight mount in Northrend after you gain it in Outland. However, by the time you reach 7 levels, you will have accumulated about g in quest rewards and vendor trash, maybe more, so it's not that big a deal. The easiest place to get this for most people is Krasus' Landing, Dalaran. Costs g, but makes Northrend a helluva lot easier.
Comment by dabby Essentially this makes a flying mount worthless for characters that were level 69 or less before the xpack, until they hit As soon as you hit 70 and you are allowed to take a flying mount, you are shipping off to Northrend to continue leveling.
What a poor mechanic. Comment by Aww. I was looking forward to flying a mount in Northrend when I got it.. Guess not. Comment by ego Since im only level 65 and have journeyman riding skill does this mean if i save up and when i hit level 77 and learn this skill this will teach me how to fly or do i also have to learn flying skill at level 70 in outlands?
Comment by ChrisScott If you reach level 77 and haven't got g or g if you haven't got Expert Riding don't stress.
Gets the job done though. Comment by The Lapse Rate per feet of altitude gained is 2. Helpful math to know if you're flying or climbing. If its 68, and you go up 10, feet, its going 46 degrees. If you're on you're mount at 20, feet and the ground temperature was in the 40's when you took off, its sub zero. See you on the Quel Makes no sence at all. Blizz owes druids who wasted 1, gold on deicing their selves gold.
I figured I'd wait will 77 when I can fly in Northrend. You'll have to buy the following: - g Expert Riding req lvl 70 Skill - g Artisan Riding req lvl 70 Skill - g Cold Weather Flying req lvl 77 "ability to fly in Northrend" Don't forget the cost of the mount Comment by Caewyn So there isn't any point in buying a flying mount prior to level 77 if levelling in Northrend?
I left the Outlands at 68, and realise there is use for a flying mount there, but if I dont feel the need, or want to go back there, is there any other use for the mount? Or should I just wait till level 77 and buy only the epic flying mount rather than have 2, one that I can only use in the Outlands and one I can then use in both?
Comment by ramijob "Remember to take all things in consideration, even World of Warcraft". Comment by "What about flying so high in outlands you are pretty much in space and have no oxygen or heat? Comment by does anyone know if you can ride the horseman's reins aka: headless horseman's steed on the ground with out CWF? Comment by Norr I think I must be the only one who thinks this sucks. For me, a casual gamer, its not easy to save up gold. Then I find I have to fork out a further g just to fly this in Northrend?
But for me it is. Its going to take me forever to save up gold again. Why not charge us g and allow us to fly in outland and northrend? Because that would be too easy. Not to mention you have to be level Who thought up that figure. The book is a bind to account item. Comment by maryadams84 I also bought the book and sent it to my level 76 priest and she can now fly in Northrend.
According to the requirements of the book, you only have to be level 68 to learn it. Comment by This is confirmed, it's called Tome of Cold Weather Flight not found on wowhead quite yet, so no link.
One caveat is that it must be bought from your level 80 character. It is bind to account, and once read is consumed. You'll have to buy multiple copies of the book with your level 80 character if you have more than one character to train. Comment by weird cause I've seen a 73 hunter flying over me in dragonblight can anyone explain? Comment by ther4ng3rx As of 3. You can only purchase it at level 80 but you can learn it at level Comment by Pebber Just to clearify.
The first character you level to 80 will have to wait until level 77 to learn Cold Weather Flight from the trainer. When that character reaches 80, you will be able to buy the "bind on account" tome an Heirloom item and send it to any alt you wish to learn the skill. Comment by can i get it more sheep then g if i have reputation exalted with the city there it sell?
Comment by I was confused for a long time as no one could clarify the requirements and conseqnece of the Tome of Cold Weather Flight.
You have to purchase the Tome of Cold Weather Flight for each alt, i. The tome just allows for alts to fly in Northrend from lvl68 rather than wait until lvl Comment by pino A blizzard gimmick?
All you get in WoW is a Blizzard gimmick. Why wait for lvl 20 to ride? It's easier to ride then to fight. Why give locks and pally's their mount? If they are so uber, they get the money for it easier. Why allow people with a lvl 80 to buy the CWF-tome for lvl 68 characters? In RL it's the same person but not in-game so why can THEY learn it quicker even with less flight-hours than some other people who flew all the way through Outlands and have the money but ain't 77 yet?
These reins can only be used in Storm Peaks, Sholazar Basin, and Icecrown - other parts of Northrend are off-limits for these flying mounts. They are only intended to help players quest in areas they could not otherwise reach. If you have a character who is level 80 and has already purchased Cold Weather Flying, but are bringing a new character into Northrend, you no longer have to wait until level 77 to enjoy flying in Northrend.
Take your level 80 to Hira Snowdawn in Dalaran, and ask to see what she sells. Hira offers an heirloom item called Tome of Cold Weather Flight.
You will not get a faction discount on this item. The Tome is Bind On Account, so you can only send it to your own characters. You can send it cross-faction Alliance to Horde and vice versa , but you cannot send it to a character on another server. The Tome is very useful for leveling alts , as it allows characters to fly in Northrend as soon as they arrive, significantly reducing travel time!
Like Outland, most areas in Northrend are completely free to fly in. However, there are a few no-fly zones that players should be aware of. Events Ongoing Seasonal Micro-holidays World.
